Aziziya (Sweet Milk Pasta Dessert)

Aziziya is a popular Middle Eastern dessert. It’s a comforting and unique sweet treat!

Pasta Shape: Small pasta (vermicelli or broken spaghetti)

Ingredients

  • 250 g small pasta (vermicelli or broken spaghetti)
  • 1 liter milk
  • 4 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • A pinch of cinnamon or shredded coconut (optional)
  • Nuts for topping (optional)

 

Instructions

  1. Boil the pasta halfway (al dente), then drain well.
  2.  In a pot, heat the milk with sugar, vanilla, and butter.
  3.  In a separate cup, dissolve the cornstarch in a little cold milk.
  4.  When the milk starts boiling, add the cornstarch mixture and stir until it thickens.
  5.  Add the pasta to the creamy milk and cook for 3–5 minutes while stirring.
  6.  Remove from heat and pour into bowls.
  7.  Let it cool, then refrigerate until it sets.
  8.  Top with nuts, cinnamon, or coconut if you like.
