In an exclusive interview with Food Today Magazine, Mr. Kareem Abou Ghali, owner of Regina Company for Pasta and Food Industries, revealed the company’s unwavering dedication to utilizing locally-cultivated wheat for pasta production, through a collaborative effort with farmers in Upper Egypt. This pioneering initiative is geared towards attaining self-sufficiency and minimizing dependence on imported wheat, which is primarily used in bread production, a staple in the Egyptian diet.
Mr. Abou Ghali emphasized the importance of this strategic move, stating, “Regina Co. is firmly committed to supporting local farmers and utilizing their high-quality wheat in our pasta manufacturing process. By doing so, we aim to achieve self-sufficiency in wheat production, reduce our reliance on imported wheat and optimize our foreign currency expenditure. This initiative aligns with our mission to prioritize the use of local resources, support the national economy, and provide consumers with premium pasta products.”
